FOMCA, TNB And SEDA Raising Awareness On Efficient Power Usage
Last update: 18/08/2016

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (FOMCA) is collaborating with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Sustainable Electricity Development Authority (SEDA) in raising awareness of efficient electricity usage.

FOMCA president Datuk N. Marimuthu said through the collaboration, several programmes had been drawn including talks and campaigns at schools and residential areas.

He said the collaboration was viewed as capable of promoting efficient power usage by domestic and industrial consumers.

"Besides meetings and conferences with the industrial sector, our focus will be on raising awareness among housewives and students, by educating them on the right way of using electricity for efficiency," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after delivering his keynote address at the 'Future of Energy: Consumer Perspective' conference, here, today.

Marimuthu said the cooperation between FOMCA and the other two parties was a continuity to the 'SWITCH 4.0 Negawatt Revolution' campaign launched in 2009.

"This campaign helps the public to reduce power usage of one to three per cent per year," he said.

The one-day conference had over 200 participants from various organisations including TNB, Malaysia Nuclear Agency, and the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry.
