KLCI futures end lower ahead of Aidilfitri holiday

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 -- The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended the week lower ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday, in tandem with the weaker performance in the underlying cash market.

At the close, spot month May 2020 eased 10.0 points to 1,438.5, June 2020 fell 11.5 points to 1,433.5, September 2020 retreated 13.0 points to 1,419.0 and December 2020 was 12.0 points lower at 1,415.0.

Turnover, however, strengthened to 12,429 lots from 10,950 lots on Thursday, while open interest jumped to 47,394 contracts from 45,424 contracts previously.

The benchmark FBM KLCI slipped 15.35 points to close at 1,436.76. 

Bursa Malaysia Bhd and its subsidiaries will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, in lieu of Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration which falls on Sunday. Trading will resume on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.
