KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN), the Malaysian halal hypermarket chain, and Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad (Zurich Takaful) have signed a 10-year agreement to offer a simple and hassle-free takaful plan at selected MYDIN retail outlets nationwide.

The collaboration will enable MYDIN customers to obtain information and the appropriate protection plans over the Zurich Takaful counters at more than 60 MYDIN hypermarkets, said MYDIN managing director Datuk Wira Dr Ameer Ali Mydin in a statement. The counter at the MYDIN Mall in Subang Jaya, Selangor, began operating yesterday.

He said the collaboration is the first in the retail market and it will also make use of digital platforms such as official websites, mobile apps and electronic news which will make it easier for the public to receive information on Zurich Takaful products.

“MYDIN is glad to collaborate with Zurich Takaful to offer a convenient way of helping our customers to obtain the necessary protection so that they can live with confidence,� he said.

Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad chief executive officer and Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad executive director Stephen Clark said this collaboration will strengthen the position of the two brands in offering products and services as well as a different experience to customers.

“MYDIN is a well-known local brand and I believe this is the beginning that will allow us to provide extensive help to the community,� he said.
