Ambank Group introduces preloaded card to help hardcore poor buy essential goods
Last update: 02/07/2018

KUALA TERENGGANU, July 2 (Bernama) -- The Ambank Group will introduce preloaded cards worth RM100 each to be given to selected hardcore persons to help them buy essential goods each month.

Its head of corporate communications and marketing Syed Anuar Syed Ali said the programme which will be launched at the latest by the end of this year will be extended to every state in stages.

“This is another corporate social responsibility by Ambank in collaboration with Mydin supermarkets to reduce the financial burden of the hardcore poor by helping them purchase essential items each month.

"With the card, they can buy 25 selected essential items such as flour, sugar, bread and eggs worth RM100 at Mydin supermarkets,” he told reporters at the Ambank Group Aidilfitri celebrations here.

However, Syed Anuar said, the selected recipients of the cards must use up the total value of the cards each month because the balance would not be carried to the following month.

"It is also a move by Ambank to increase the use of electronic money or e-wallet among our customers where they need no longer spend using cash,” he said.

He added that Ambank through its CSR initiative was also providing the hardcore poor with information on ways to manage their finances better.

“We are not just encouraging them to save but at the same time are teaching them how to increase their financial resources by looking for new jobs,” he said.
