41 Per Cent Of Tawau Employers Use e-Payment Facility
Last update: 02/10/2017

TAWAU, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Tawau branch has almost reached its 50 per cent target in getting employers here to use its e-Payment facility for their workers.

EPF Contribution Department unit chief Norazmi Othman said 41 per cent of the 4,277 employers in Tawau and Semporna had begun using the facility.

"But the overall response to e-Payment in Sabah is still low ? 35 per cent of the 29,165 employers," he told Bernama here today at the EPF open day held for the first time here, at De Choice Hotel.

He gave the statistics breakdown as follows: Kota Kinabalu (37%), Kota Marudu (34%) Keningau (33%), Sandakan (26%), Lahad Datu (23%), and Labuan Federal Territory (40%).

He said to this end, EPF had taken various initiatives such as holding an EPF open day to enlighten employers on the convenience of the e-Payment system which was introduced in 2015.

According to him, the facility is a simple application for employers to remit their workers' EPF contributions, that is through four methods, Web Bank, Financial Process Exchange, Direct Debit Authorisation and Internet Banking.

"Employers need not send their cheques to the EPF counters. They can just remit via internet in their office or at the bank," he said.

The EPF open day here ends tomorrow.
