MOE To Channel RM10 Million To Rebuild School Blocks Destroyed By Fires In Sabah
Last update: 17/05/2014

KOTA KINABALU, May 16 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Education (MOE) will allocate RM10 million in allocation to rebuild school blocks destroyed by fires in the state.

The five schools are in Papar, Tuaran, Kota Marudu and Beaufort districts, which were destroyed by fire months ago.

State education director Datuk Jame Alip said the allocation would be fully used to finance the reconstruction projects to ensure the school session returns to normal.

"The allocation is to rebuild school blocks damaged by the fires. The schools include SK Pekan Kiulu, Sk Gadong, SK Tempasak, SK Simpangan and SK Panimbawan," he told reporters at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Friday.

Jame also denied claims the frequent occurrence of fires in several schools since last March were due to arson or sabotage.

"We are in the midst of engaging a consultant to conduct a thorough check on the safety of 600 schools that in bad shape in the state, including the existing school building electrical wiring installation system," he said.
