Bank Islam Allocates RM200,000 To Fund CSR Programme During Ramadan

KOTA BAHARU, July 27 (Bernama) -- Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) has allocated RM200,000 to carry out various welfare programmes under as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) for Ramadan this year.

Its Chief Operating Officer (Operations), Datuk Norasni Ayob, said the allocation was a part of the business tithes totalling RM8.08 million from the bank's profits last year.

About RM45,000 of the RM200,000 would be used for breaking-of-fast events for the poor, including students, residents of welfare homes and single mothers in the Kota Baharu district, she told reporters after the breaking of fast here last night.

At the event, about 280 orphans, students and single mothers feted to the breaking of fast with the bank's officers and staff in the state. Also present was BIMB Head of Regional Office (Eastern Region) Wan Rosita Wan Mohamed.

Norasni also said that Bank Islam had 124 branches and more than 1,000 self-service terminals in the country. The bank offered more than 50 products and syariah banking services for the needs of Muslims and non-Muslims, she added.
