Malaysian Haj Pilgrims Should Stay Indoors During Heavy Rain
Last update: 30/09/2013
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian haj pilgrims in the holy land are advised not to venture outside during heavy rain or flooding for safety reasons.
"Although the flood over there (Makkah and Madinah) are not big like in Malaysia, the pilgrims should stay indoors as the roads can become slippery," said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
He was speaking to reporters after presenting RM1 million to Ehsan Seputeh Foundation chairman Datuk Mustapha Kamal Yussof for the construction of Akademi Tahfiz Darul Abrar in Jalan Kelang Lama, here Monday.
The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment of Saudi Arabia was on Sunday quoted by the Saudi Gazette as saying there was possibility of rain in Makkah and Madinah during the haj period.
Jamil Khir said most of the Malaysian haj pilgrims are already in Makkah and Madinah and hopes that they stay in good health and safe.
