BEIJING, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- China's express delivery volume soared over 50 per cent for the 28th month in a row, with more than 3.84 billion deliveries in the first half of 2013.
The figures also indicated that the express delivery volume has recorded an annual growth of 60.6 per cent, data of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing showed yesterday.
The data also showed that the express delivery industry revenue has hit revenue of 62.98 billion yuan (US$10.2 billion) in the first six months, up 34.5 per cent year-on-year (yoy).
State-run news agency, Xinhua, reported people from counties and townships areas spent about 5,628 yuan online in 2012, almost 1,000 yuan more than those who live in urban area.
However, the logistics sector in this Asian economic giant recorded a slower growth during the same period, with a 9.1 per cent rise in the total value of goods transported in the first half of the year.
The growth slowed 0.3 per cent from the first quarter, and dropped 0.9 per cent yoy, the report of the federation said.
The federation said that a sluggish shipping industry due to gloomy international trade and overcapacity in the commodities logistics sector were among the factors slowing the sector's growth.
