Residents In Sabak Bernam May Experience Water Disruption
Last update: 25/05/2013

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Residents in Sabak Bernam may experience water supply disruption due to the ongoing upgrading work on clean water supply distribution system from the Bernam River Headworks (BRH) water treatment plant.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) corporate communications and public affairs department assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said Syabas had activated its Green Code Emergency Action Plan in Sabak Bernam since 3pm Friday.

She said the upgrading work involved the construction of two pump houses at the BRH's balancing reservoir and Parit 16 in Sabak Bernam to enable 65 million-litre water suppy be distributed per day to all areas in Sabak Bernam using the existing pipes.

"Syabas is expecting disruption of clean water supply in most of the areas, especially in terms of low pressure and quality of water," she said.

Priscilla said the upgrading work was expected to take about a week to be completed and Syabas would place its static water tanks and deploy its water tanker lorries to the affected areas to help residents facing water disruption.

More information can be obtained by contacting Syabas customer service centre hotline at 1-800-88-5252 or by sending an SMS to 39222 or via Syabas' Facebook or Twitter pages.
