BSN & UiTM undertake Micro Finance Entrepreneurs Analytics Pilot Project
Last update: 22/06/2019

KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) are working together in the Micro Finance Entrepreneurs (MFE) Analytics Pilot Project, aims to improve BSN Micro/i customers' accounting management.

In a statement today, BSN said under the project, lecturers and students from UiTM’s Faculty of Accountancy would be using accounting software ‘SPS Lite’ which was developed by an accounting firm, SALIHIN.

“This accounting software can help BSN Micro/i customers to monitor business financial activities which indirectly will help improve their businesses and become more competitive, as well as increase their competency in financial management,” it said.

BSN chief executive Datuk Yunos Abd Ghani said the pilot project which started in April 2019, would run for six months until October 2019.

During the period, BSN Micro/i clients were given the opportunity to learn and adopt ‘SPS Lite’, he said.

“BSN Micro/i clients would be taught on how to record business transactions such as sales, purchases, staff salaries and other business records.

“They will also be able to access their business information, as well as business transactions record,” he said.

Meanwhile, UiTM vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Ir Dr Mohd Azraai Kasim said the initiative was in line with UiTM’s aspiration in terms of encouraging the involvement of lecturers in teaching and learning, as well as in research and consultation which could help improve their quality and therefore benefit the industry and community.
