Last update: 13/04/2018

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- AmBank (M) Bhd is targeting to double its enhanced Internet banking platform, AmOnIine users to one million by year-end.

Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir said since its soft launch in October 2017, the daily sign-up rate of between 400 and 500 daily had risen to 1,500 per day as of late.

"As at March this year, we already have about 500,000 users," he told reporters after the launch of AmOnline here today.

Sulaiman said the bank also expected more than half of the total number of users targeted to download the application by year-end.

"We aims to create the best e-commerce-like experience in banking, to allow customers to invest, gain access to financing and fulfill their end-to-end financial needs entirely online.

"Our online offerings are analytics-backed to deliver an individually personalised and proactive experience of the right offer at the right time," he added.

Meanwhile, Ambank Managing Director, Retail Banking Jade Lee said the AmOnline platform has recorded a 63 per cent of growth in transaction count since its launch last year with RM900 million worth of transactions per month.

"We hope to double the transaction count by the end of 2018," she said, adding that the bank's active retail customers currently stood at three million.

Starting April the banks have imposed a 50 sen processing fee on top of the 15 sen stamp duty on each cheque. The fee also applies to those applying for a Bankerís Cheque, Bank Draft and Cashierís Order. Do you think this additional charge is justified?
