AAGI, MAB launch AXA SmartAid for the Visually Impaired

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27†(Bernama) --†AXA Affin General Insurance Berhad†(AAGI), in collaboration†with†the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB), has launched AXA SmartAid†to provide visually impaired individuals with personal†accident†insurance protection and empower them to live better lives.

AAGI†chief executive officer,†Emmanuel Nivet, in a statement, said: "At AXA, our purpose is to empower people to live better lives. We believe that the visually impaired should not be deprived of their basic rights and equal access to live in an accessible and protected environment.

"Getting complete coverage for people suffering from visual impairment is often an uphill battle. Which is why it is so important for us to come up with a policy like AXA SmartAid to protect the visually impaired from accidental events and safeguard their needs, just like anyone else."

The†AXA SmartAid†plan comes with three affordable premium rates:

Plan A: RM10,000 coverage on accidental death and permanent disablement, RM500 on accidental medical expenses and RM1,000 on cash relief or funeral expenses. The annual premium is RM13.

Plan B: RM20,000 coverage on accidental death and permanent disablement, RM1,000 on accidental medical expenses and RM2,000 on cash relief or funeral expenses (annual premium - RM25).

Plan C: RM50,000 coverage on accidental death and permanent disablement, RM2,000 on accidental medical expenses and RM3,000 on cash relief or funeral expenses (annual premium - RM60).

The plan is open to all visually impaired individuals aged 18 to 65 years and renewable up to age 75.

"This plan was initiated following the feedback that individuals with disabilities are regarded†as†high risk, therefore visual impairment hinders them from obtaining†affordable†insurance policies,"†said MAB chairman, Datuk†Kulasegaran†Sabaratnam.†

The†purchase of the policy will be done via MAB.†To ease explanations and provide better assistance for the visually impaired in understanding the plan, AAGI provides a voice recording of the product benefits when reaching out to them.
