60 Premises In Negeri Sembilan Without Fire Certificates
Last update: 02/02/2018
SEREMBAN, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department has identified 60 premises in the state, which were not issued with fire certificates, last year.
Its director Norazam Khamis said the premises included factories, hotels and supermarkets.
"Action has been taken against the errant owners with some awaiting prosecution under the Fire Services Act 1988 (Act 341).
"In 2016 there were 30 cases and each year there is an increase in cases. We will not compromise if the property owners fail to meet requirements to obtain the fire certification," he told reporters after a corruption-free oath taking and signing ceremony here, today.
At the ceremony Norazman led 180 fire department personnel in signing and making the pledge, witnessed by Negeri Sembilan MACC deputy-director (Operation), Khairuddin Abdul Rahman.
"We will take firm action against building owners who violate the rules," he said adding that regular checks would be carried out to ensure regulations were being complied.
